WWW: The Great Equalizer? (1780 hits)

Anyone on this site knows the power of the Internet and the WWW. It is the power of knowledge and communication. I'm proud to say I was one of the pioneers of this technology, and undoubtedly my career was made easier by the economic advantage of being white. But my first mentor and inspiration was a black man, whose name is Don Coppedge, who was Athletic Director at the YMCA in Phoenixville, PA in 1964, when I was 8 years old.

Now the question. Through personal experience (though of course I cannot speak from the heart of a black man, or woman, or child) I know of the obstacles to a certain part of the black community. Say in East Oakland, among many others. What if these citizens had equal access to the WWW? This is assuming they do not at present, which I believe is true. What difference would it make in overcoming the inequality remaining in our society?

Thank-you
Steve
