Job Description
Assistant Football Coach
The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks applications for a self-motivated, results-oriented individual with the knowledge, ability and interpersonal skills required to serve as Assistant Football Coach. This is a full-time, 12-month position, salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes full University benefits. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I Power Five institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Department of Athletics manages 24 varsity sports programs and operates under a “Win. Responsibilities: Perform all duties as a full-time countable coach, including prospect evaluations, on-campus, and off-campus visits, permissible communication periods with prospective student athletes, and eligibility criteria. This is an NCAA Countable Assistant Coach - specific position coaching responsibilities to be determined. Assist in the development of playbook materials; handle personal counseling needs of players directly supervised; public speaking and promotion; other duties as assigned by head coach.

Note to Candidate: This position requires some travel, work in the evenings, on weekends and holidays. Five professional references will be required at a later step in the recruitment process. The successful candidate will be subject to a credential and criminal background check and driving record review.

Qualifications & Requirements
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent).
• Two – three years coaching experience working in a highly competitive environment
including high school, college or professional football.
• Working knowledge of and ability to:
o work constructively and collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds;
o utilize basic office productivity software and online database systems (please
specify).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated through public
speaking engagements, clinician experience, and use of effective and creative
training/coaching techniques.
• Demonstrated experience organizing and managing complex functions on behalf of
an organization.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly regulated team environment.
• A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet The University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standards.

Desirable qualifications:
• Three to five years of demonstrated success in recruiting
• Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to
successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program.
• Demonstrates extensive proficiency and ability to:
o utilize a video analysis system (please specify)
o utilize an online recruiting database (please specify)
o maintain productive, long-term relationships with staff, students, prospect’s coaches,
and patrons.
