The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is looking for experienced, highly motivated, dependable individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment to join their team as a Fire District Dispatcher. Typical duties and responsibilities of a Fire District Dispatcher include receiving calls and dispatching fire apparatus staff to emergency situations, providing general information to the public, screening calls using established Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) protocols, providing instructions, reading and interpreting maps, maintaining records, logs and reports, and performing routine clerical assignments.
The Contra Costa County Fire Communications Center is the vital link between the citizens they serve and the first responders who provide assistance. The center is responsible for all fire, medical, public service and rescue operations for most of the county. They provide safety and service to the community and pride themselves on integrity, ethics, and respect for individual human dignity.

Qualifications & Requirements
License Required: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment a valid California driver's license.
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or high school proficiency certificate.
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience within the last three (3) years, operating 9-1-1 telephones, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and radio communications equipment while dispatching public safety emergency services.
Certificates: Candidates must possess and maintain throughout the duration of employment certification as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD).
Performance Requirement: Ability to type at a speed of not less than 30 words per minute at a PC terminal.
