Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion|
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a dynamic and experienced diversity practitioner to serve as its next Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (VCDEI).
As the state’s only academic health sciences center, UAMS provides tertiary and quaternary medical and surgical care to a community of 3 million people. Its reach is broad, covering the entire state, and employing people in 73 of Arkansas’ 75 counties.
This is an opportunity to serve as UAMS' first full-time diversity officer and join the leadership team of Chancellor Cam Patterson, M.D., MBA. Dr. Patterson is a renowned cardiologist and healthcare administrator who joined UAMS from Weill Cornell Medical Center/New York Presbyterian where he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
The new vice chancellor will work to keep diversity, equity and inclusion at the forefront of all decisions at the cabinet level and enhance diversity and inclusion efforts among faculty, staff, and students across all UAMS colleges, including the College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, College of Public Health, the College of Health Professions, Graduate School, the eight regional sites, and the health system. Among the vice chancellor's priorities will be to develop a clear definition of diversity for UAMS; assess and evaluate the impact of current and future diversity and equity efforts; develop pipeline, recruitment, and retention programs for faculty, staff, and students across all colleges; and work to develop a diverse, equitable and inclusive-oriented culture across the organization.
The VCDEI is an exciting opportunity for an experienced innovative leader who has the vision and collaborative skills to achieve institutional excellence in diversity, inclusion, and equity. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of experience in a senior-level diversity role. Familiarity with academic medical centers/healthcare institutions is a plus, but not required.
