Business/Administrative Associate, Marketing and Events Specialist (6822)|
The University Marketing and Communications Department at SIUE is in search of an experienced Business/Administrative Associate- Marketing and Events Specialist. The Marketing and Events Specialist will manage commencement ceremonies for both the fall and spring sessions. The Specialist will be responsible for communicating relevant information to graduates and guests, maintaining a student RSVP database, ordering appropriate materials, and be the lead customer service contact for graduate/guest inquiries. The Marketing and Events Specialist will also manage content, development and execution of New Student Convocation, work with the Office of Admissions to develop Preview SIUE and Springboard to Success programming, and collaborate with the Chancellor's Office to manage other external affairs/special events.
For commencement and other special events, the Specialist will coordinate with Facilities Management, service vendors and other departments on event setup and execution. He or she will manage event staffing and volunteer coordination, lead training sessions, handle staff assignments, and coordinate event day management.
Additional duties for the Marketing and Events Specialist may include but are not limited to:
-Manage multiple client relationships and develop communication strategies for events and projects.
-Complete multiple annual national institutional surveys as pertains to University events.
-Work with clients to develop content for area-specific webpages.
-Team with internal departments to achieve integrated marketing strategies.
-Assist graphic design and video teams on University presentations and related projects.
-Manage content for University digital signage.
Further duties may be assigned based on the departmentís mission and goals. Depending on scheduled events and projects, this position may require some evening and weekend hours.

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, communications (including speech communication, mass communication and applied communication), marketing, public relations, special events management, organizational leadership, or a degree related to the position.
-Two years of professional level managerial, business, and/or accounting experience, one year of which was at an administrative level.
-At least one year of experience in marketing agency, promotional writing or strategic communications.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as preparing event proposals and/or scripts.
-Minimum one year demonstrated experience designing high-quality PowerPoint presentations, used in large-scale public presentations.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and experience managing large-scale special events.
-Ability to communicate with multiple departments to collect and disseminate information effectively.
-Highly motivated team player with outstanding organization and time management skills.
-Must have demonstrated success in prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
-Proven success in development and maintenance of schedules and workflows.
